The Alliance High School Athletic Department has awarded their first every monthly awards. The awards that will be given out on a monthly basis are designed to recognize student-athletes, coaches, and community members that are making a positive impact on Alliance City Schools and the community.
Jillian Lohnes was the recipient of the AHS Athletics Lieutenant Commander. The Lieutenant Commander is the highest ranking Naval Aviator. As such, the AHS Athletics Lieutenant Commander is a student-athlete that makes a positive impact on their teammates, in the school, and in the community. Jillian received the award because she "has been a team captain for girls tennis for the past two seasons and really pushes her teammates to get better. Her determination and work ethic are great examples to our younger players. She also single-handedly organized our 1st youth tennis camp this summer. She created and distributed all of the communication, posters, t-shirt designs, and taught lessons."
Apollo Prince was the recipient of the Aviator Pride award. This award is given to an AHS student that exemplifies school pride, is a positive supporter of our athletic programs, and models good sportsmanship. "Apollo always supports other programs. He wants all of our programs to be successful, not just our team. He has respect for all the student athletes at AHS."
This month's Outstanding Co-Pilot was Mikayla Milburn. The outstanding Co-Pilot is an assistant coach that goes above and beyond to support their head coach to make a positive impact on their program and our athletic department. "Coach Milburn is an outstanding assistant coach. She is always there to help pick up the slack. She relates extremely well to our athletes. As a former player, she loves Alliance Volleyball!"
The last award winner for the month of August was Mr. Tyler Kinser. He was awarded Most Valuable Flight Deck. This is awarded to a member of the community that selflessly supports Alliance Athletics. Mr. Kinser received several nominations. "Mr. Kinser is literally at EVERY sporting event." "Mr. Kinser supports all Aviator Athletics even the smaller sports that don't get as much attention."
Congratulations to the winners of the first Alliance High School Athletics monthly awards. These individuals are positive contributors to the culture of Alliance City Schools. Stay tuned for the September award winners!
