ALLIANCE, OHIO – (April 19, 2022) – During the regular board meeting held Tuesday, the Alliance Board of Education approved Leonard “Lenny” Reich as the new Athletic Director for Alliance City Schools (ACS). Reich will take over the position from Mike Schott following his departure from the district on June 30.
“Lenny has over 25 years of college athletic experience and a breadth of knowledge that will undoubtedly be beneficial to Alliance City Schools,” said superintendent Rob Gress. “Throughout the interview process, he consistently showed an understanding of athletics and a passion for the Alliance School District and community. We know he is the right person to help move our athletic programs forward in the coming years.”
Reich has been the assistant athletic director at the University of Mount Union (UMU) since 2008. Before joining the UMU athletic department, he worked as the sports information director for eight years at Capital University.
He received a bachelor’s of science in sports management with an emphasis in sport administration from the Georgia Southern University in 1997.
Reich has received a number of accolades, including being a 2022 inductee of the CoSIDA Hall of Fame and earning the 2019 CoSIDA Warren Berg Award for excellence in sports information.
“I’m excited about the opportunities and the challenges this position will offer and really just working with the people at Alliance City Schools,” Reich said. “What brought me here is the people- there’s obviously some great leaders in place and coaches. There’s a tremendous amount of potential and I’m looking forward to and am proud to now be a part of that.”
Reich has strong ties to ACS with his wife, Helen, being a kindergarten teacher at Alliance Early Learning School and his daughter, Caroline, being a high school athlete at Alliance High School.
